Refund for Caruna Espoo Oy’s customers for electricity distribution prices

Our customers within Caruna Espoo Oy’s distribution network will receive a one-off refund on their electricity distribution price. The refund will be calculated on the basis of an annual consumption estimate and is 16 percent of the annual electricity distribution charges for the property. The sum will be refunded in the next electricity bill and requires no additional action from our customers.

The Finnish Energy Authority monitors the reasonableness of electricity distribution pricing in four-year regulatory periods according to a pre-authenticated monitoring model. The regulatory period 2012-2015 is coming to an end, which is why we will revise our pricing.

We have sent a personal letter about the refund to all our customers to whom it applies. Our customer service desk is also happy to answer questions about the refund. Just call 0200 23300 (local network rate/mobile call charge) on weekdays 8 am – 4 pm.

Questions and Answers:

Who does the refund apply to?
The refund applies to all customers within Caruna Espoo Oy’s distribution network who have a current grid service contract for the distribution of electricity (on 28th August 2015) or a turnkey contract with Fortum Markets Oy. It does not apply to electricity connections that are, for example, temporary, under maintenance or have been cut off.

How is the refund calculated?
The refund is calculated from the annual electricity distribution prices on the basis of the annual consumption prognosis verified in August 2015. The annual consumption prognosis represents the annual electricity consumption of the property and is calculated on the basis of the electricity consumption data for the last 12 months. The annual consumption prognosis to be applied as the basis for the refund has been checked in August to make sure it corresponds to the consumption at the end of July, and any estimates exceeding the margins of error have been corrected so that they comply with the actual consumption data.

What charges are refunded in my electricity bill? How does the refund show in my bill?
The sum calculated on the basis of the annual consumption prognosis will be deducted from the next electricity bill’s total. If the refunded sum exceeds the total sum of the bill, the rest of the refund will be transferred to the next bill. In your electricity bill, the refund will be given on a line of its own, reading 'Other charges or refunds in total'. The page enclosed with the bill gives more detailed information, such as what is the sum the refund has been calculated from and the refund percentage.

How much will my refund amount to?
The refund is 16 per cent of the estimated annual electricity distribution charges for the property. As a customer of Caruna Espoo Oy, you will see the refunded sum in your next electricity bill under ‘Other charges or refunds in total’.

I’m a Caruna Oy customer; does this refund apply to me too?
No, unfortunately it doesn’t. The refund applies only to Caruna Espoo Oy’s customers. Caruna Oy and Caruna Espoo Oy are two separate companies with separate pricing, grid structure and investment pace. Consequently their costs are also formed differently.
